Why nurses?

Okay, I know the curiosity has been eating you up inside, so once and for all, here's the official explanation:

It's circa 1986. I'm standing in a used bookstore in Bozeman, Montana. I'm looking at a shelf of paperback fiction, filed alphabetically by author. Suddenly, I notice that there are three books within a foot of one another that all have the word "nurse" in their titles. None of the books has the same author.

Thinking this an odd but intriguing coincidence, I buy all three (only a dime apiece). After that, it becomes a game. How many "nurse" books can I find?

Well, quite a few as it turns out. Today, the collection stands at 453.

And by the way: No, I haven't read any of them.
